Enabled Tools Not Showing in Your AI Client

If you switched on a tool in Easy MCP AI (an External Data provider, a plugin integration, or an ability) and your AI assistant still can't see it, work through this page from the top. In most cases the change is already live in WordPress, and your AI client is still showing the tool list it loaded earlier.

Refresh the Tool List in Your AI Client

AI clients load the list of available tools when they connect, and most of them keep using that saved list afterwards. Easy MCP AI builds the list fresh on every request, but it does not notify connected clients when the list changes, so your client only sees new tools after you make it load the list again. Starting a new chat on its own is often not enough.

Nothing on the WordPress side needs to be cleared or rebuilt. There is no tool cache in WordPress, your caching plugin, or your CDN that affects this, and you do not need to delete and re-add the connection.

Find your client below and follow its steps.

ChatGPT

1. Open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar and select your WordPress connector.
2. Click Refresh next to Information.
3. Check the connector's Actions list on the same page. If a new action is listed but not available, turn it on.
4. Start a new chat and enable the connector there. A chat that was already open keeps the old tool list.

ChatGPT workspaces

In a ChatGPT Enterprise or Edu workspace, a published connector keeps the tool list it had when it was published. A workspace admin must go to Workspace settings > Apps, open the ... menu next to the connector, select Action control, click Refresh, and then select the new actions, because they arrive switched off. In a ChatGPT Business workspace, a published connector cannot be updated, so an admin has to create and publish it again.

Claude.ai and Claude Desktop Connectors

1. Go to Customize > Connectors and select your WordPress connector under Your connectors.
2. Open the ... menu next to Disconnect and choose Refresh tool list.
3. Under Tool permissions, look for the new tools. If a tool is set to Blocked, change it to Needs approval or Always allow.
4. Start a new conversation, click +, open Connectors, and make sure your WordPress connector is turned on for that conversation.

Claude Desktop with a Configuration File

If you connected Claude Desktop by editing claude_desktop_config.json instead of adding a connector, Claude Desktop only loads the server's tools when it starts.

1. Quit Claude Desktop completely. Closing the window is not enough, because the app keeps running in the background.
2. Open Claude Desktop again and start a new conversation.

Claude Code

1. Run /mcp in Claude Code.
2. Select the wordpress server and choose Reconnect.

Claude Code then loads the tool list again from your site. Use Reconnect instead of only restarting Claude Code, because a restart can reuse the previously saved tool list.

Cursor

1. Open the Customize panel in Cursor's sidebar.
2. Turn the wordpress server off with its toggle, then turn it on again.
3. If the new tools still don't appear, quit and restart Cursor.

GitHub Copilot in VS Code

1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows and Linux, Cmd+Shift+P on macOS) and run MCP: Reset Cached Tools.
2. Run MCP: List Servers from the Command Palette, select the wordpress server, and restart it.
3. In Copilot Chat, switch to agent mode, open Configure Tools, and make sure the new WordPress tools are selected.

Tool limit in VS Code

VS Code allows at most 128 tools in a single chat request. Easy MCP AI can expose more than that once you switch on several integrations. If VS Code warns that you have too many tools, open Configure Tools and deselect the tools you don't need for the task.

OpenAI Codex CLI

1. Quit your current Codex session and run codex again. Codex loads the tool list when a session starts. In the Codex IDE extension, use Restart extension instead.
2. If the new tools are still missing, open your Codex config.toml and look at the [mcp_servers.wordpress] section. If it has an enabled_tools list, Codex only shows the tools named in it, so add the new tools there or remove the list. Also check that the new tools are not in disabled_tools.

Google Antigravity

1. Click Settings in the bottom left corner and choose Customizations.
2. Go to Installed MCP Servers and click the refresh button next to the wordpress server, or turn the server off and on again with its toggle.
3. If the new tools still don't appear, restart Antigravity.

OpenCode

1. Quit OpenCode and start it again in the same project. OpenCode connects to MCP servers when it starts.
2. If the new tools are still missing, check the tools section of your OpenCode configuration. A pattern such as "wordpress*": false switches off every WordPress tool, including new ones.

Manus

1. In Manus, open Settings > Connectors and remove your WordPress connector.
2. Add it again with the same values, following Connect Manus to WordPress. Manus loads the list of available tools when it connects to a server.

Other AI Clients

Look for an option to refresh, reload, or reconnect the MCP server in your client's settings. If there isn't one, restart the client. If that doesn't help, remove the server and add it again.

Check That the Tools Are Switched On in WordPress

A tool is only offered once the feature it belongs to is switched on and saved. Check the place that matches the tool you are missing:

• External Data tools (Google Analytics, Search Console, DataForSEO, Semrush, SE Ranking, Ahrefs): go to Easy MCP AI > External Data. A provider's tools appear only after its credentials are saved. Ahrefs also needs its own switch turned on. Each provider also has a list of its individual tools, so make sure the tools you need are enabled there, then save that provider's settings.
• Plugin integration tools (for example WooCommerce, Advanced Custom Fields, or SEO plugins): go to Easy MCP AI > Plugins, enable the integration, and click Save Plugin Settings. The plugin the integration works with must also be installed and active on your site.
• WordPress Abilities: go to Easy MCP AI > Abilities, enable the abilities you want to use, and click Save Ability Settings.

After you save, go back to Refresh the Tool List in Your AI Client.

Check What Your Connection Is Allowed to Use

Each connection to your site has its own permissions, so a tool can be switched on and still be hidden from one particular connection.

API Tokens

Go to Easy MCP AI > API Token & OAuth, open the API Token tab, and click Edit on the token your client uses. Under Tool Permissions, either select the new tools or choose Select All Tools (full access), which also includes tools added later. Then click Update Token. OAuth Connections

Clients that you connected by signing in and approving the connection (such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Claude Code) use an OAuth grant instead of a token.

1. Go to Easy MCP AI > API Token & OAuth and open the OAuth tab.
2. Under Active Grants, find the connection and click Edit Scope.
3. Turn on Read (and Write, if the tools change data) for the category of the new tools, or turn on Full Access, which includes every tool, including ones added later.
4. Click Save Scope.

The new scope applies to the connection straight away, so you don't need to connect again. Refresh the tool list in your client afterwards.

Check Site-Wide Settings and User Roles

Two more settings can hide a tool from every connection:

• Disabled Tools: go to Easy MCP AI > Settings and check that the tool is not switched off under Disabled Tools. A tool switched off there is hidden from every token and OAuth connection.
• Minimum Capability for External Data Tools: the Google Analytics, Search Console, DataForSEO, Semrush, and SE Ranking tools are shown only to connections whose WordPress user has the capability set in Easy MCP AI > Settings, which is Administrator by default. This is why a connection that belongs to an Editor or Author can't see them. Lower the setting if those users should have access.

Confirm Which Tools a Connection Can See

The Diagnostics card on the Easy MCP AI Dashboard checks whether each API token can see tools and names the setting that hides them. It also flags OAuth connections that have no usable permissions.

1. Go to Easy MCP AI > Dashboard.
2. On the Diagnostics card, press Re-run checks and wait for the results.
