Inspect Theme and Plugin Files with AI

The wp_privileged_files_read_query tool lets an authorized AI client inspect permitted theme and plugin source files under wp-content. It is read-only: it can return file information and contents, but it cannot change files.

Choose an Action

• list: Find files and folders. Use recursive listing when you need to see items inside subfolders.
• search: Find matching text or a regular expression in permitted files when you know what code or text to look for.
• outline: See a source file's structure and line numbers before choosing which part to inspect.
• read: Return a numbered range of lines from a file when you need to examine specific code.

Access Boundaries

Paths are relative to wp-content; the tool does not accept paths outside that directory. It only reads permitted theme and plugin source files. It excludes the uploads and mu-plugins directories, cache and backup directories, and hidden files and folders (names beginning with a dot).

The tool does not read credential files, archives, logs, SQL dumps, or other unsupported file types. It attempts to detect and redact suspected secrets before returning file contents or search results, but redaction is a secondary safeguard, not a guarantee. It may not detect every sensitive value, so do not treat redaction as proof that a file or result is safe to share.
